Information for Visitors
If you are a former student of London South Bank University you can join the LSBU Association. Benefits of membership include free access to the Library and the Learning Resources Centre. There is also a paid membership (£25 per year) which will allow you to borrow up to 5 main collection items at a time. You can find full details of LSBU Association benefits/conditions and details of how to join here.
If you are a student at another university in the UK, you should check whether your institution is a member of the Sconul Access Scheme. Joining the scheme will allow you to access our library. Postgraduates, Part-time Undergraduates, Distance Learners, and Academic Staff can gain borrowing rights of up to 4 main collection books. Full time Undergraduates can access us on a Reference Only basis. You'll need to contact the library at your home University to join the scheme - they will give you a Sconul Access card. Please bring this card along with ID from your own institution to gain access to LSBU library. If you are eligible for borrowing then you will also need to bring a passport photo. During vacation periods you can access LSBU library for reference only using only your ID from your home university under the Sconul Vacation Access scheme. Please note: access and registration for incoming users is only available during library helpdesk staffed hours, and not during our 'security only' evening extended opening.
Members of CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers) are eligible for reference access on production of CIBSE membership card
Members of CTH (Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality) and OTHM (Organisation of Tourism & Hospitality) are eligible for reference only access on production of their CTH/OTHM cards. Please bring a passport photo on your first visit so an LSBU reference access card can be made up for you.

NHS Trust staff - can access our libraries at Havering and Whipps Cross only. You will need to collect a form from the library counter and have it signed by your manager. You will also need to bring your NHS ID, proof of address, and a passport size photo Participating trusts - Barking and Dagenham PCT, Barking, Havering and Redbridge PCT; Havering PCT; Waltham Forest PCT; North East London Mental Health Trust; Whipps Cross Univ. Hospital Trust.
Reference access to all other visitors is at the discretion of the site manager. Requests for access must be made in advance, either using the Reference Only Form which is available here or from any library information point. After completing and signing the form, please return it to the site library you wish to access. Due to pressure on our resources/space from LSBU students and those from other Universities access to members of the public is limited - please give us as much detail as you can of your particular educational need to use our library.
We are also members of Libraries & Learners in London.
Computer Access Please note that due to licensing restrictions on our electronic resources only current LSBU students/staff can use the PCs in the LSBU libraries.
Visiting users may access the library catalogue terminals and the free electronic resources available via them. Select this link for further information.
LSBU Association members can access PCs in the Learning Resources Centre. |
